About me

Hi, my name is Ava! I'm a Sophomore at Methacton High School, graduating 2023. I play Volleyball at school and for Highline Volleyball Club. I also like to bake, read, and sing. I'm currently in my schools advanced choir. I'm always baking with my mom at home and reading if I get a chance. I set a record in my class in 5th or 6th grade, I believe, for about either 126 or 216 books, it was around that. That is an achievement I'm very proud of to this day. I can be described as an introverted goofball that loves listening to music and loves the arts. Photography, of course, is my favorite, next to music. Now, I've done photography and always taken pictures for years. I always randomly took pictures of things I found to be beautiful or that I wanted to remember. It's always been that way, and I never quite knew what I was capable of with my photos until I took my class course of Photography this year with my teacher, Mrs. Ferenchak. She's taught me so much about different rules, angles, editing, and neat things you can do with photos you take rather than just taking them. I've started to realize the meaning behind all of the photos I take to this day.

I chose this course for my love of photography and trying to be creative. I'm able to try new things with this course and push myself out there and learn more about what I can do. I  learned how to use many different rules and angles and how to edit my photos.

MY REFLECTIONS

5.20.21

What makes my art successful is the fact that I'm able to try different angles and coloring and figure out the right position for the object to be in the photo. I'm able to see it in many ways, but I eliminate one by one and choose the one that best fits the photo.

In class this week I learned how to create a website. This showed me how I can show and explain my artwook and photographs to others and how I take them and about me and how I feel about photography and my certain photos.

I achieved my goal this year to try new things like colorings, angles, and editing. I also achieved my other goal of staying dedicated. I tried to find objects that most people wouldn't use for photos, or use them in another way.

Concentration

skyconcentration1

This image I imagine being in a Twilight night sky. It shows the darkness of the night and the light of the night that brightens it up. I came up with this idea through the dark theme of it and movies I've seen recently. I attempted to use the use of framing in this photo, using the trees to surround and frame the moon.

skyconcentration4

This image can be seen as the empty sky. I see it in a way that can be thought of as there are so many possibilities with the sky, yet it can also be so empty with that one light that can lighten up the sky always. I came up with this idea since it was a clear night sky and the color is brightened. I attempted to use the rule of thirds with this image, trying to have the moon be on the bottom left intersection.

skyconcentration5

This image can be seen as a dark pastel sky in an old 80s movie. I see it as this considering the old movies like West Side Story were placed on the streets. This just shows me the beauty that the sky can make a simple street look. I came up with the idea with all the objects in the photo reminding me of that, simply. I attempted to use the rule of thirds again with this, trying to place the moon on the top left intersection.

skyconcentration3

This image can be seen as the fire of the earth in its beauty. I came up with this idea because the colors truly represent fire, although it's a beautiful sky. I attempted to use the rule of color considering all the colors blend well together and the darkness of the woods and field bring out the colors of the sky.

skyconcentration2

This image can be described as the morning light. This image almost looks like the sunrise that some kindergarten children might be drawing. You can see the yellow in the center and the rays around it. I came up with this since it merely reminded me of those drawings. I attempted to use the rule of thirds again, placing the sun on the top right intersection.
